Dating someone younger than you can present problems you might not have previously thought of in a relationship. There are a whole different set of issues to deal with when you are dating a younger person. This is not for people who are a couple of years apart. This is for people who are six to ten years or more apart in age.

Younger People are more Insecure

It can be hard for a younger person to get through their jealousy and think clearly. You may have to deal with them being a little clingier than you are comfortable with. When you date someone older they are usually pretty secure with their selves and know where they stand so they aren’t going to be as jealous and sometimes nuts as younger people can be.

Different Points in Life

A common problem with dating someone significantly younger is that you want different things and are in different points of your life. This can come up in everything from wanting to have children to whether or not you want to go out and party. When you are at different points in your lives you may have different priorities and the maturity levels are different. This can be hard for some people to work though.

Acceptance

Another struggle you may face when dating someone younger is if your relationship will be accepted or not. Try as we might, we care about what other people say about us, and what they think. There is always that fear of being whispered about behind your back. You really want your family and friends to be happy for you, but it can be hard for them to accept your relationship with someone much younger than you especially in the beginning. If you really care about the person then you will just have to be patient and hope they come around.
